I will answer your question, but first things first. Why are you talking to someone 9 hours away? I ask this for obvious reasons, but also because there might be more to it. Sometimes we create situations that keep us protected from becoming too vulnerable. I know that long distance relationships can work, but the odds are not in your favor. If you really are ready for a serious commitment (in general), there are lots of fish in the sea. Maybe next time you should try casting closer to home.
As for keeping it real with far away boy, maybe you could test the waters by talking about travel in one of your fabulous conversations. In my experience, men don’t mince words. Is it too soon to flat out ask? It might be too soon to ask him to commit to anything, including travel, but it’s probably not too soon for you to explain your busy life and your expectations. Bottom line, be true to yourself and start with yourself. The right man will follow.
